Pre-conference workshop: Synergizing Data Sensing and AI for Transportation Mobility, Safety and Cybersecurity
Glendale, Arizona– Sunday, June 8, 2025
As the transportation sector evolves, there is a growing need to enhance mobility, safety, and cybersecurity through the integration of advanced sensing technologies and artificial intelligence (AI). This workshop seeks to explore how the convergence of these two domains can transform transportation systems, making them more efficient, secure, and resilient. The workshop will bring together researchers, practitioners, and industry experts to discuss innovative solutions that leverage AI-powered data analytics and real-time sensing techniques. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
- AI-Driven Traffic Management: Exploring how AI can be used in conjunction with sensing technologies for intelligent traffic control, congestion management, and route optimization.
- Sensing Technologies and Safety Enhancements: Examining the role of sensor-based AI in preventing accidents, enhancing vehicle safety, and improving driver assistance systems.
- Cybersecurity in Transportation: Addressing the security challenges posed by the growing reliance on connected systems and sensors, and developing AI-driven solutions for threat detection and mitigation in transportation networks.
- Edge Computing, Data Fusion and Decision-Making: Investigating the use of multiple sensing modalities (e.g., vision, LiDAR, radar) combined with AI for improving decision-making processes in transportation systems.
- Scalability and Real-Time Systems: Overcoming the challenges of scaling sensing and AI solutions in real-time applications, with a focus on performance, accuracy, and robustness.
The workshop will feature keynote speakers, technical presentations, and interactive discussions aimed at fostering collaboration across disciplines, and will provide a platform to share cutting-edge research, ideas, and best practices in the synergistic use of sensing and AI for transportation. This workshop is intended for researchers, engineers, policymakers, and industry leaders working in the fields of transportation, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and sensing technologies. Whether you are working on AI models for transportation or tackling challenges in cybersecurity and safety, this workshop will provide valuable insights and networking opportunities to drive innovation and progress in these critical areas.
This workshop is organized by ASCE T&DI Emerging Technologies Council and led by the Data Sensing and Analytics Committee, and co-sponsored by the AI in Transportation committee, and supported by CYBER-CARE, Tier I USDOT University Transportation Center, TRB Committee on AI and Advanced Computing Applications (AED50).
